Equality and diversity

Equality and diversity

ARB operates in line with the Government’s public sector equality duty which places a responsibility on all public bodies to eliminate unlawful discrimination, advance equality of opportunity, and to foster good relations between different groups of people. The duty also helps to ensure that public bodies consider the needs of all individuals in their day-to-day work.

We have an equality scheme which sets out our commitment to equality and diversity best practice and identifies how we will deliver on this in our work.

We first introduced our scheme mid-2010. In 2014 the scheme was updated to incorporate recent minor changes in the legislation, an update on progress to date and general wording reflecting that the scheme is no longer a new scheme. The Board noted the updated scheme and progress made by ARB in this area at its meeting on 20 November 2014. To view the updated scheme please click here.
